Thing # 3
As I am exposed to Blogs more and more in my graduate classes, I am starting to understand and realize the potential value of having a blog for a classroom. Though I am not familiar with Blogs, students today are. Technology has always been part of their world. I teach fifth grade. My students do not know a world without computers. I see possibilities of posting journal entries, book clubs, online literature, classroom newsletter, etc. I think you can do so many different things with a blog.

I, too, teach 5th grade. It's amazing to me to think about the technology I had growing up (one computer - without internet - after I started high school), and then think about how much technology these kids have grown up with. Computers and other technologies are a big part of their lives. Having a blog in / for the classroom would be giving students avenues of learning and interacting that they are familiar with and can really work with. It's something they are used to and enjoy. I really like the ideas you have for using a blog in the classroom. My favorite idea from your list is using a blog for book clubs. This sounds like something I'd really like to try this year!
